Not surprisingly, 2005 was the worst year ever for computer security breaches.
This is hardly surprising considering the exponential growth of the internet as well as the wider adoption of general technology - in fact it would be very surprising if 2006 doesn’t outsrip 2005 for cyber-crime easily.
In 2004 cyber crime netted the recipients $105 Billion at the same time the US Department of Homeland Security cut the budget for cyber-security programs to $16 million.
The funny thing is that exact figures for security breaches are hard to come by because most people don’t even know they have been hacked!
