How To Phish

Posted on Thursday 29 December 2005

Learning how to phish for people’s ID and banking information isn’t really a problem. In fact phishing information is available on almost every story about the topic - even in the mainstream press.

Now, luckily the banks are starting to get pretty good with tracking down these guys and shutting them down, but the problem is that it is always going to be a reactive thing. That is to say, that they have to wait for the phishing to begin before they can shut it down.

That means that people - even just a few - will continue to get tricked into giving away their personal and financial information to these faudsters. If just a few people fall for the scam, then a profit can be made and dishonest people will continue to do it.

That means phishing is here to stay for the foreseeable future.

The moral of the story is to keep your wits about you when reading suspect emails.
